  • Pottsboro Chamber of Commerce – New Texas Certified Retirement Community (CRC)

The Pottsboro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announced that the City of Pottsboro is a GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community (CRC). This certification, awarded by the Texas Department of Agriculture, requires the completion of a rigorous application process, and has only been awarded to 52 communities to date. When a community receives the GO TEXAN stamp of approval as a CRC, that means that it has met the living, employment, volunteer, health, entertainment, education, and safety needs of its citizens and visitors. These are what make Texas a great place to spend a day … or a lifetime.

More than 400,000 U.S. citizens and 33,000 Texans retire each year, according to PEW Research. The Texoma region is already a top choice for recreation, with excellent boating, fishing, camping, and hiking within minutes of Pottsboro, as we strategically occupy some of the best real estate in Grayson County. Our community of more than 2,000 people is not far from the commercial centers of Sherman and Denison, but offers a slower pace of life and affordability that is perfect for retirees.

The Pottsboro Area Development Alliance (PADA) is spearheaded the movement to promote our community as a CRC in Texas. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is committed to supporting programs that will make our community a better place for residents and visitors alike. PADA played a key role in bringing the Brookshire’s grocery store to town, as well as constructing the $1 million James G. Thompson Municipal Park.
